"NOT A SIMPLE LIFTING Beneath the shimmering reflectors of Eicma 2018 , the new Versys 1000 2019 is also on display at the Kawasaki booth. The Akashi tourer is renewed in aesthetics, mechanics and technological equipment . It will be available in two versions: standard and SE , the latter equipped with electronic suspension, riding mode, cornering lights, heated grips and much more. Let's find out together in detail.
FAMILY FEELING Like the new Ninja 636 also the Versys 1000 2019 inherits the front design already seen last year on the Ninja 400 and inspired by the flagship H2 . New side panels on the sides of the radiator, which in the valuable SE serve as housing for cornering lights, and the seat is now more ergonomic. On the subject of lighting, there is no mention of switching to LED technology for headlights and arrows .
UPDATED ENGINE The beating heart of the Versys 1000 is always the in-line four cylinder 1.043 cc engine capable of delivering 120 hp and 102 Nm of maximum torque. For 2019 the novelty is the electronic control of the gas that makes the delivery more precise and linear as well as allowing the implementation of cruise control, an essential gadget for a travel bike like the Versys, and riding mode, even if only on the SE.
MATURE CYCLING The structure of the Versys 1000 2019 does not present big news, the frame remains a double tube aluminum truss , the news is mainly concentrated in the suspensions and brakes. KECS electronic suspensions make their debut on the prestigious SE , while on the standard we find traditional adjustable suspensions. On both versions at the foot of the fork legs will work radial calipers (first on Versys) controlled by KIBS (Kawasaki Intelligent Anti-Lock Brake System) an intelligent ABS designed by Kawasaki and already successfully tested on the sports Ninja H2 and ZX -10R, obviously revised to be able to work better with the long-excursion suspension of the tourer. Confirmed the choice of tires: 17 "wheels, to enhance the sporty driving, fitted from 120/70 tires to the front and 180/55 to the rear.
HI-TECH TOURISM As for the new Versys, great importance is reserved for electronic aids. Thanks to the IMU inertial platform developed by Bosch on the Versys 2019, the Kawasaki Cornering Managment Function KCMF makes its debut, managing at best the behavior of the engine, brakes and traction control even when cornering . On the SE the driver can take advantage of the Bluetooth connectivity of the TFT color dashboard (simple LCD for the basic version) will be able to interface his smartphone and manage calls, notifications and anything else directly through the blocks placed on semi-handlebars.
TOURIST EQUIPMENT Those who buy the Versys 1000 2019 can count on a pure traveler's budget , very rich, needless to say, on the SE. It starts with adjustable windshield, 12 V socket, panniers and trunk to finish with comfort seat, oversized windshield, hand guards and heated grips, standard on SE. The price has not yet been unveiled but we expect a significant increase compared to the € 13,000 of Versys 2017."
